Cloudflare

Well I add recently converted most of the sites on inexistence to now use cloudflare.
It’s a rather interesting service which has replaced my primary DNS service I used to use everydns.

To break it down for everyone this means better speed as they cache site files for quicker loading.
They also prevent known spambots from even connecting to hosted sites.

For any admin out there I heartily recommend their service as it’s really cost effective to boot.
(We are currently using their free account and it provides so much stuff!)

If you’re using self hosting with WordPress they even provide a plugin for analytics tracking stuff
along with a database optimization feature.
(Though I do automatic database optimization every four hours or so on Inexistence)

Anyways I hope everyone enjoys their just a little bit faster hosting and once again enjoy!

SPF, DKIM, Mail Changes

I’ve implemented spf tags onto inexistence mail to help with spam filtering
(I’m currently just marking headers not failing stuff).

I’ve also implemented DKIM signatures for select domain names.
(Also not failing unsigned domains and all domains are in test mode).

But if you were expecting an email and haven’t received it and
they have confirmed they sent it please let me know…
I know internally there are no email problems so I will receive your notifications.

Thanks!

PS. If you all of a sudden cannot use your email client of choice
set the auth to LOGIN sometimes called PASSWORD
do not use the MD5 / NTLM stuff as you’ll need my help.

SORBS shutting down…and it’s affect…

From SORBS.net:
“It comes with great sadness that I have to announce the imminent closure of SORBS. The University of Queensland have decided not to honor their agreement with myself and SORBS and terminate the hosting contract.

I have been involved with institutions such as Griffith University trying to arrange alternative hosting for SORBS, but as of 12 noon, 22nd June 2009 no hosting has been acquired and therefore I have been forced in to this announcement. SORBS is officially “For Sale” should anyone wish to purchase it as a going concern, but failing that and failing to find alternative hosting for a 42RU rack in the Brisbane area of Queensland Australia SORBS will be shutting down permanently in 28 days, on 20th July 2009 at 12 noon.”

Now the somewhat good news, I stopped using SORBS about 2 years ago…
We use Spamhaus and other things here on inexistence so the spam filtering
shall continue even when SORBS is gone…
Just thought I should allay some fears and clarify a few things on the matter
