SORBS shutting down…and it’s affect…

“It comes with great sadness that I have to announce the imminent closure of SORBS. The University of Queensland have decided not to honor their agreement with myself and SORBS and terminate the hosting contract.

I have been involved with institutions such as Griffith University trying to arrange alternative hosting for SORBS, but as of 12 noon, 22nd June 2009 no hosting has been acquired and therefore I have been forced in to this announcement. SORBS is officially “For Sale” should anyone wish to purchase it as a going concern, but failing that and failing to find alternative hosting for a 42RU rack in the Brisbane area of Queensland Australia SORBS will be shutting down permanently in 28 days, on 20th July 2009 at 12 noon.”

Now the somewhat good news, I stopped using SORBS about 2 years ago…
We use Spamhaus and other things here on inexistence so the spam filtering
shall continue even when SORBS is gone…
Just thought I should allay some fears and clarify a few things on the matter

Spamhaus…

I fixed the dnsbl (Blacklisting) for sendmail.
It’s been awhile since I checked the config and noticed we were using the wrong host:
sbl-xbl.spamhaus.org when we should be using zen.spamhaus.org.

I have made the proper change and fine tuned some other sendmail configuration options.
And from what I notice in the logs spam is cut down again even more than before…

Please let me know if an email you were expecting doesn’t arrive at the support site.

Concerning Webmin…

It has been brought to my attention that some people cannot use webmin.

If you are one of those people please contact me via the support site.
So I may rectify the issue for you otherwise you will continue to have the problem…

Going Mobile…

For all you mobile device users out there I have installed WordPress Mobile Edition from Crowd Favorites.

I also modified it to verify via ready.mobi so it has as few errors as possible for you.

I also had to drop the super part of WP-Super Cache as it breaks the mobile part.
So yeah a little speed loss but I think it’s worth it especially since im-online isn’t slowing
down this site anymore…

So enjoy the mobile part…
(I know I do as it makes it easier to update stuff via my psp)

Internet Explorer 8.0 Epic Fail

So I installed IE8 on the wife’s computer…

Checked out a couple of sites and I noticed that it’s rendering is rather flaky…
Then I checked out some sites I’ve made (which are 100% standards compliant) and noticed it broke them a bit.

Sooooo…

Inexistence is flagging all the sites hosted as IE7Emulate via headers until further notice so the sites will render properly…
